Focus on Photography Art Exhibition Awards Reception: Friday April 10th 6 pm to 8 pm
Judge: Danielle Koenig
Danielle Koenig holds an MFA in Photography and a BFA in Design and Media Arts with a concentration in photography. She also earned an Associate of Arts degree in 2016.
Her photographic practice centers on themes of time, memory, aging, and the complex transitions that define everyday life. Drawing from personal experiences as both an artist and a mother, Danielle creates quiet, contemplative images that explore the emotional depth and subtle complexity of daily family life. Her work often features her children and herself, offering intimate glimpses into moments that feel both ordinary and profound.
Through her lens, Danielle investigates the impermanence of life and the invisible threads connecting identity, memory, and change. Her photographs serve as visual meditations on the passage of time—how it leaves marks, builds bonds, and ultimately reminds us of life’s fragile beauty.
In March 2025, she presented her solo MFA thesis exhibition, State of Being, at Annette and Jerry Johns Gallery, DeKalb Il. Her work has been included in group exhibitions such as Re:collection (Float Magazine), Feminist Responses in a Tumultuous Time at Koehnline Museum of Art, Des Plaines IL, Lenscratch’s 2026 Favorite Photo Exhibition (online exhibition), Threads of Echoes at The Plan, Chicago IL, Research Rhizomes at NIU School of Art and Design, DeKalb IL, and Challenging the Stigma at Founders Memorial Library, DeKalb IL.
